Flow – Water Technique

I wanted to create some interesting water effects on my reference photo. I started with photoshop, however I wasn’t able to create the right effect I was looking for. So I decided to create my own “water tank” to create practical distortion effects. (It leaks everywhere)

I’ve never drawn water before, so this piece was kind of difficult for me. I had to rethink how I was drawing and just focus on light, shadow, and abstract shapes.

I’m excited how this turned out, and plan on creating more work with this technique!

Check out a time lapse of the drawing…
